When Proposal Plans Don’t Quite Go to Plan 🤍
Proposal plans don’t always go exactly to plan — and Susan and Lucas’s Blue Mountains proposal was definitely one of those occasions!
Everything was set. We’d checked the weather the day before, conditions looked perfect, and I arrived early before heading down towards Landslide to be ready for their arrival.
Only to discover that the side track we’d planned to use had been completely blocked with huge cut branches.
At first, I was determined to get through anyway. 😅
After struggling my way in, though, I quickly realised that while I might be willing to scramble through there, Lucas’s girlfriend might not appreciate quite that much effort — and could possibly start questioning where on earth he was trying to take her!
Not exactly what you want when you’re trying to pull off a surprise proposal.
So, in a bit of a last-minute scramble, I messaged Lucas and we quickly changed locations to Peckmans Plateau instead.
Thankfully, Lucas managed to get Susan there without giving anything away, and the proposal could went ahead.
And in the end, it really didn’t matter where we were.
The joy, the tears and all that love made the moment equally memorable. 🤍
Honestly, I think the chaos just made their story even more unique. It was a good reminder that no matter how much planning goes into a surprise proposal, the moment itself matters far more than the plan.
And, of course, having a Blue Mountains proposal photographer who knows a few backup locations definitely comes in handy when plans suddenly change!
I always feel so completely honoured to capture such important memories. Thank you for choosing me to photograph this incredibly special moment in your lives.
