Frequently Asked Questions

Family

We have a long list of beautiful blue mountains location options, depending on your family and the ages of your children and the time of year.  We love the stunning scenery in the blue mountains so you will see that features heavily in my photography.

We also offer studio photography too.

This depends on the ages of your children. For families with children under 5, we suggest morning sessions, start time varies depending on the time of year 8-9am start is usual.

For all other families then I recommend we make the most of the amazing sunset light. We usually begin about 45mins before the sunsets.

The session will be more like a fun afternoon or morning at a gorgeous natural location hanging out…where you happen to have a photographer with you. I tend to capture a mix of both, candid and posed, including all the different combinations for the people present. I find even when clients tell me they want candid they tend to purchase the posed portraits too.

Relax! Its my job to capture your family as you are…I will help you relax and have a fun experience and create lasting memories. I have some tips to help you look your best too!

We reschedule in the event of bad weather

It’s best to leave it to me…the aim is to have a fun time as a family and to create some special memories. Try to ensure you have plenty of time the day of the shoot and the whole process of getting ready and traveling to the session is also fun. If you feel stressed…your children will feel that too.  I will do my best to get them to warm towards me…I have a bag of tricks…;)

Sometimes, very rarely some children are very defiant. In the past, even on these occasions, parents are often surprised that I am able to get great photos…it’s all the moment’s in-between…so just trust and have a great time! I’ll be there to capture those beautiful family moments for you.

We can reschedule, no problem at all.

My fabulous studio is located on a ridge in Hazelbrook – the mid blue mountains therefore, I service the Great western Highway side of the Blue Mountains. Outside of this area I charge for travel time.

Check for availably, we usually book up approx 6 weeks in advance, however, if you need photos sooner we will do our best to fit you in.

Generally we book your purchasing appointment in the week following your session. You & your partner attend the studio and are spoilt with a cinematic presentation of your images. We work with you to help you select your favourite photos in the format you choose that will suit your home. This process can take time. We allow up to 2 hours for this session.

Yes. Initially, each individual photo is edited for exposure and contrast to show you the full set to make your selections. Once you decide on your wall art or album we then give extra special treatment and are fully retouched,  creating individual art pieces. This treatment might include removal of distracting objects, sky enhancements, skin softening, stray hair removal, spot removal or slimming. Our editing style is what you see in our gallery, we want you to look like you!

Generally turnaround is approx 4 weeks on art works and 6 weeks for albums. At peak times it may be slightly longer.

Yes. The majority of my clients choose colour for their wall art. However, you also receive a B&W copy of any file you purchase in addition to the colour digital copy.

Firstly we shoot with cameras with dual memory card slots – therefore we shoot full size images to both cards to ensure we have a backup copy from the moment of capture. (In case of card failure) One card remains in the camera the entire session while the other card can be changed out as we go, although one card is usually more than enough for a one hour session.

When we get back to the office we download your cards to a server that then makes two copies to ensure safe storage. We don’t delete the cards until you have selected your photos. We also save your purchased files to our dropbox cloud storage while your images are being processed.

Yes you are welcome to visit me at my studio so we can meet and you can check out the quality of my work in person.

Check the Experience tab for the step by step process. Once you’ve had a look around the website please take a moment to complete the contact form.

You can also book a call straight away or just try me, I might be free! Click on the button at the top left on the website ‘Book a call’

In this call I like to get to know you and find out more about your family so I can make sure I deliver the best photography experience possible and amazing memories that will last a lifetime. We discuss location, timing and clothing in this call. The call usually lasts about 10-15minutes.

You will receive the digital copy of any wall art or print you purchase. For albums you can add on the digital copies.

RAW files, the digital negatives, are the format in which photographs are taken. They can’t be viewed without photography editing software nor printed. You will receive your high resolution Jpeg files that are edited and print ready. Providing raw files would like a chef suppling a plate full of vegetables and meat not yet cooked. The Jpeg is the finished product.

Newborn

We have an incredible purchase built space perfect for you to relax while I capture your newborn photography.

We generally do all the sessions here at our studio and we find that is the most relaxing way for our clients as you don’t need to worry about ensuring the house is spotless, when you have hardly slept…all you need to do is turn up at the studio, we can all so arrange a makeup artist to pamper you before we capture the family photos.

Newborn sessions generally last about 2 hours but we allow up to 4 to ensure there is enough time for feeds in-between takes.

You can download my guide of what to wear and how to coordinate for your session, and be photoshoot ready.

Having a pampering Hair & Makeup session is a personal choice. Professional hair & makeup artists that we can recommend know how to apply makeup for the camera and this can make a difference to your end photos.

Please ask we are happy to send you our recommendations.

Newborn session’s are always scheduled in the morning.

Yes of course. We ask that you arrive with the whole family and we capture the sibling and family photographs first. We then ask for you to arrange your partner or other family member to collect your older children so we can then focus on capturing your newborn.

Wedding

I often work solo. However, I have recently starting using an assistant. My assistant is not a photographer.

I love to cover the entire day for you from preparations to first dance or the end of the evening, this ensures my high standard is maintained.  I recommend you opt for a second photographer package when you and your partner are getting ready at geographically separate locations and travel between the locations would be impractical. Some couples really want 2 photographers to achieve more photos and different vantage points throughout the day in this instance  your coverage will include two photographer for up to a total of 6 hours.

Yes. Coverage starts at one hour, although I usually find 1.5hrs is a perfect amount of time to cover an elopement ceremony and some photos of you and your new Mr or Mrs after the main event.

Yes.  As wedding photography is covering an event our fee included your edited photos from the day.

You will receive all the photos captured on the day. We do cull true out-takes, such as blinks, flash didn’t fire or duplicates. We find on average you will receive approx 100 images per hour for longer day coverage. A little more for shorter day coverage.

You will receive your high resolution Jpeg files that are edited and print ready. Providing raw files would like a chef suppling a plate full of vegetables and meat not yet cooked. The Jpeg is the finished product.

Yes. Each individual photo is edited for exposure and contrast.

For album purchases  images are given extra special treatment and are retouched, this treatment might include removal of distracting objects, sky enhancements, slimming, skin softening, spot removal.

Yes. Every wedding is different and some photos look best in colour, some supreme in black and white.  We do provide a selection of B&Ws for every wedding. Make sure you tell me if you aren’t a fan of black and white and we can ensure you receive only colour in your finished set.

Firstly we shoot with cameras with dual memory card slots – so we shoot full size images to both cards to ensure we have a backup copy from the moment of capture. (In case of card failure) One card remains in the camera the entire day while the other card to changed out as we go.

Post production of your digital images can take up to 10 weeks at peak times. We always do aim to have the photos to you much sooner.

Your print ready photos will be available for download via a beautiful online gallery that you will also be able to share with family and friends.

As wedding photography is an event 90% of the day is photojournalistic in style. When we meet up, we discuss how I usually capture each part of the day. If you want to skip over the portraits – I am happy to do that….although, I usually find most couples want them…even when they initially ask for candid photography! Those ‘posed family photos’ are also a must for most and the way I cover your couple photos is to create real time beautiful memories rather than posed moments in time.

Yes. I started the business in January 2012 and went full time approx 2 years in. I’ve been a full time photographer since 2014. Photography is my full time job..my full time business… My life!
