I’m always so excited every time I get to help with a proposal — it’s such an honour to be there to witness and capture such an unforgettable moment!
Pedro reached out to me all the way from Texas while planning an epic trip to Sydney with Michelle, which even included seeing Billie Eilish in concert. We caught up over Zoom before their trip to plan the proposal, and Pedro had everything perfectly organised for the Tuesday.
But when I woke up that morning to drizzle, I knew the Blue Mountains weather might have other ideas!
Pedro was determined though — today was the day!
As he made his way up from Sydney, the weather started looking worse rather than better, so I suggested pushing the proposal a little later in the hope that the clouds might clear.
No such luck — at least not higher up in the mountains!
Thankfully, I know the Blue Mountains pretty well and always have a few backup locations in mind. I sent Pedro three different options where the visibility was looking much better, and he chose Adams Lookout — my local lookout, just down the road from me in the mid-mountains.
It turned out to be the perfect backup.
And this time, I was quite literally hiding in the bush, slowly edging my way closer so I could capture everything without Michelle spotting me and ruining the surprise! 😂
It worked perfectly.
Michelle had absolutely no idea what was coming, and her reaction was just beautiful. Once Pedro was down on one knee, I could finally come out of hiding and capture all the excitement afterwards too.
These two were just the sweetest, and despite the weather changing our original plans, it all came together beautifully in the end.
Congratulations, lovely Michelle and Pedro! Thank you for trusting me to capture such a special part of your Sydney and Blue Mountains adventure.
Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness, love and many more adventures together. 🤍

Planning a Blue Mountains proposal?
If you’re thinking about proposing in the Blue Mountains, I’d love to help you plan and capture it. Whether you already have the perfect spot in mind or have absolutely no idea where to start, I can help with locations, timing, light and, of course, a backup plan if our unpredictable mountain weather decides not to cooperate!
You can try giving me a call — you might catch me at the perfect time — or book a phone chat so we can talk through your plans. If you’d rather, simply fill in my contact form and I can get in touch with you. I’ll usually send you a quick email or text first so you know it’s me calling.
I photograph proposals throughout the Blue Mountains and love helping make the whole experience feel relaxed, natural and, most importantly, a complete surprise.
